Welcome to Writing Works, a safe relaxed non-judgmental informal writing club. A space to share ideas.
At Writing Works, we want you to try something new and join us to start or continue your creative writing project. It may be the beginning of your book, a journal or if you just want to join a group to get feedback on your writing ideas and thoughts, then this workshop is for you.
Writing is a powerful way to express yourself, explore new paths, tackle the past and embrace the future. We work on the premise that personal growth flourishes through creative thinking. Conquering your fears is challenging and expressing your self in writing can be very cathartic.
Currently we are still registering names and contact details until we have a launch date, schedule, event space and fee structure.
With the advent of digital culture, both as individuals and professionals, we lead increasingly isolated lifestyles. For many, this has a detrimental effect on our general well-being and health. With this in mind, real ‘in-person’ social interaction has never been more important. To connect with fellow human beings is a gift and should be utilised and celebrated.
At Writing Works, we want you to walk away from our sessions feeling inspired and maybe, with a few ideas to move your project forward. After all, to meet, write with peers and socialise with like-minded people, can only be positive thing, right?
There are no restrictions on ability, background or status. All we ask is to respect your fellow peers and kindly follow the below guides:
My name is Safy Tashkandy.
I have been working in the creative / digital design space for the past twenty years and enjoy my career. As a writer however, I am at best, an amateur and have only just started to explore the discipline.
I created Writing Works to engage with likeminded people who want to be part of regular writing practice where we can share ideas and learn off one another.
Currently, I am working through some of my own writings which I hope to refine into a novel over the coming years.
Writing Works is a work in progress group and we are starting with ‘Write Night’.
The evening consists of two distraction-free blocks to write amongst our peers with prompts for those who may require that extra stimulus.Typically, the Write Night will not produce your best work, however it will aid to encourage you further and build on your word count and ideas.
